SPECIAL INVITE for EDUCATORS ATTENDING OCEANS 2014

MTS / IEEE & The Marine Institute‘s Ocean Innovation Series proudly present;
5th Annual Educators Workshop on Ocean Education in the Classroom
Date for Workshop: September 15th, 2014
Rationale: The development of 21st Century skill sets require engaged and critical thinkers. The oceans which surround this province provide an underutilized resource for intriguing secondary students with real learning experiences in science and technical fields. These are precisely the fields which offer lucrative careers with growth potential and international employment opportunities. This workshop will craft a strategy to bring experiential learning to NL students.

Location: The Fisheries & Marine Institute of Memorial University (MI), Ridge Road, St. John’s, NL
Cost: There is no cost to attend but seats are limited, early registration is encouraged to guarantee your place. Funds may be available to cover the cost of substitute teachers in Newfoundland.

Outcome: A final report summarizing recommendations on how to best bring Ocean Education into our classrooms in an exciting, affordable and meaningful way.
